Grand Lake is an extraordinary 5,660 acre spring fed lake that stretches 11 miles long containing 19 islands with a depth of up to 30 feet deep.  Brown Island sits in front of Loon’s Landing. The lake bottom in front of Loon’s Landing is sandy but I recommend swimmer shoes as if you go to other areas on the lake you could expect to find rocks. If you are interested in fishing the species include: northern pike, gnar pike, walleye, bullhead, rock bass, small-mouth and large-mouth bass, white sucker, yellow perch, pumpkin sunfish and bluegill.  Boat rental is available at Sand Bay Marina 989 595-2502 and Jet Ski’s at Grand Lake Marina 989-595-3365 call for prices and reservations.

Not only is Grand Lake right outside your door within a few miles the area offers Lake Esau, Lake Huron, Long Lake and a bit further the famous Fletchers Flood Waters.
The main road, Grand Lake, offers a bike lane that travels through Presque Isle Township to the Presque Isle Harbor.  There are many other paved roads to meander through as the Presque Isle Harbor Association development has 3000 acres with paved roads; large enough to require a map (provided at the cottage).  You and your family can also enjoy bird watching and hiking the trails up at the harbor or take a short drive to Besser Bell or to Thompson’s Harbor. There are two local convenience stores; Birch Hill (also has gas and wi-fi) and The Portage Store for those forgotten items.
